Barrett's Second Birthday Party

I can't believe it's been another year!  Barrett is officially 2!  We had a fun birthday party for him on Saturday with just a couple of friends and lots of family.  Barrett spent most of it on the swing (with everyone taking turns pushing him) and jumping on the trampoline (both of which he got for Christmas from both sets of grandparents).   Barrett was listening to us singing very well at the party because when it came time for his actual birthday he was singing to himself pronounced:  "Appy Birthday to OOH".  So cute! He was so proud of himself (and so were his parents proud of him).  Here are some pictures to remember the day:

What a busy Fall!



So many of you know that God has called us to a new church so the last few months have been challenging and exciting as God has opened up what He has in store for us.  We are now attending Metropolitan Baptist Church (The Met).  This church has an AMAZING MOPS group which I have learned to cherish and a fabulous Bible Study class where Daniel and I have been overwhelmingly welcomed and feel challenged.  Now that church is so close to our house I am able to be more active in volunteering for many different things like MOPS setup, decorating tables for Holiday dinner, attending a weekly Bible Study (that provides childcare), etc.  It has been such a blessing in our lives!  I have also become an Online Missionary through Global Media Outreach (a division of Campus Crusade for Christ) and that has totally changed my outlook on things from day to day.  I figure I better get some pictures up before the holidays are here.  I hope you have had a fabulous fall!

Summertime

Wow it's been a long time since I posted.  Summer has been busy in the Travis home.  We traveled to Mobile, Orange Beach, Dallas, New Orleans and Orlando (me).  It's been quite fun!  Here are some pictures to show the fun things we did.

At the beach, Daniel caught a seagul spreading his wings over the ocean which was pretty spectacular.

Barrett loves his kitchen helper and climbing on it (and everything else).  Look at what a big boy!

Celebrating my birthday at Brennans ! They brought me the bread which looked like a potato head made of veggies/fruits which had a candle in it since the bananas foster couldn't hold a candle.

Barrett at Morning Call, one of our favorite beignet places that had great hats, but sadly no high chairs.  We were there a total of 10 minutes.

Barrett's favorite place to be in New Orleans was definitely the park.

We found a rooster wandering the park and Daniel was able to get up close and personal with it.

Barrett gets too loud for himself sometimes and he has to cover his ears!

The school of fish and large turtle was cool too.

In Orlando, here's Mary Claire, Bethany and me at the Harry Potter part of Universal Studios.  We had a great time!

Barrett was in VBS this week and they learned about King David yesterday and made crowns.  Here's Barrett in his crown!  It cracked me up!

Busy Barrett

It's summertime and Barrett's ready for it!

Barrett loves to get in (literally) the dishwasher and play.

Busted!  I found Barrett in Daniel's bathroom cabinet.

Here's Barrett watching his favorite show--Wheel of Fortune!  He loves to watch and call out letters.  Sometimes he even claps when the audience does.  It is quite a sight to see!

Soaking it up like sponge

Barrett loves to walk everywhere now and you will find me chasing after him.  Great for losing weight, right? 

Barrett found his basket, emptied the toys out of it and sat in it.  Haha!  Thank you Au-Claire for my cool new shirt-"Lock up your daughters".  We all love it!

BUSTED!  I caught Barrett take down the picture from the sofa table and staring at his picture.  I was lucky enough to catch it on camera!

Barrett has been quite the busy boy lately.  He is soaking everything up like a sponge.  He's learned to say "abc", "nine", "Jesus", "Bible" and many other words.  Today was extra special because he learned how to hold the big boy fork, pick up some ravioli and put it into his mouth.  What a big boy!  Now, you know this was not a clean experiment but oh so worth it!  Here are some pictures of this wonderful day!

Barrett loved getting his basket from the Easter Bunny!  He especially liked the crispy rabbit which he tried to eat through the foil :)  Here he is in his sweet Easter outfit.

Barrett's new love is playing the piano that my Mimi and Papaw gave me.  He plays standing or sitting at least twice a day (usually more).  Mimi and Papaw would be so proud!
